Wall Cleanup, Rebuild Virtually Complete
Web site updates to go on hiatus
Just a quick update and a “Thank You” to close out this series of reports.
The next phase of the wall restoration is to apply a color coat of Shotcrete (similar to Gunite) and add some jardineras to dress it up. Here's a little lesson in construction terminology: Gunite describes the application of dry ingredients (cement and rock) that are blown through a hose with water added as it flows onto the surface under pressure. Shotcrete is the name for the application of wet, or premixed, cement, rock, and water that is shot (hence, its name) under pressure through a hose onto a surface. With Gunite the operator controls the amount of water that is added and with Shotcrete the operator controls the amount of air added. Sorry; I just learned this and couldn't resist passing it along.
Anyway, once the color coat is applied and the planters are added, the progress of the work and the flow of information will become sporadic, at best. As a result, we will be using the newsletter to keep you up to speed. The next issue will be published in March.
Before we say adios, we (the board of directors, management both onsite and off, and all the staff) want to thank you for your incredible patience, understanding, and, most of all, your cooperation. We have spent countless hours telling each other how grateful we are that there are so few members who have had anything negative to say. And now we want to tell you; it warms our hearts to know that, when the chips are down (or, in this case, the retaining wall) we can count on you to recognize the need to work together for the common good.
The worst is over now and the board and management are pursuing all available remedies for recovery of the huge expense involved. But that won't affect your opportunity to once again enjoy your Mexican home away from home in Puerto Vallarta . The mess is over, the wall is functional, and if you listen close you'll hear a little voice calling your name and saying, “Come on down.” And, it's not the announcer on The Price is Right.
Adios, y nos vemos en Lindo Mar.
