Wall Damage Not as Severe as First Thought
Cleanup work reveals a portion did not collapse

Well, in our last report we said we would post “Bulletins as they break” so here you go.

As the dirt and rubble have been removed from the site of the retaining wall collapse at Lindo Mar we have discovered that not all of the wall fell down. When workers got down to the level of the second floor they found that the lower portion of the wall was still in place. As a result, the time necessary for the cleanup has been substantially reduced and it looks like it will not be necessary to build an entire new wall. The engineers are looking at the remaining portion and will determine how extensive the rebuilding will need to be. The pictures here show the part of the wall that did not collapse.

There have been some questions about the conditions the guests have had to endure in the past couple of weeks and whether those who are scheduled to go soon should consider alternatives. The short answers are, “Not bad,” and “No.” Of course, there has been some dust and a little noise but not anything that anyone has complained about, at least not to management. As for conditions being bad enough to warrant trading your time to another location, if you liked Lindo Mar in the past, you won't find much difference now. Unless your reservation is for unit 101. If that's the case, it will only be necessary to use a different room, not a different resort. And, guest services are pretty much back to normal: the Jacuzzi and the pool, the steam room, fitness center, concierge, and other amenities.

Finally, there is talk around the pool and in town (and even outside of Mexico) about the accident and its impact on the Club. As with any situation like this, there are those who know and those who don't. If you encounter this, ask yourself if there is good reason to believe what you're hearing. If something is causing you concern, just contact Trading Places International and you'll get an informed answer.

Until our next report, Hasta Luego.
