Lindo Mar Resort Reopens on Schedule
All services restored; Some rooms still offline

On Saturday, January 13, 2007, guests began checking into Lindo Mar Resort again. A full staff was on hand to welcome them. Although there was no hot water on Saturday, everyone could enjoy hot showers by Sunday morning. With the exception of a few rooms at or near the ground floor on the south end of the building, everything is pretty much back to normal.

Hot water was delayed because the gas company's arrangements for installation of the propane tank were a little off. The new platform for the tank was built on time by Lindo Mar staff but, when the crane (grúa, in Spanish) arrived to raise it up to its new location the tank was nowhere to be found. Once it arrived and was installed there was not enough time to heat the water – it takes about 9 hours – before Sunday.

Because the dirt and rubble will take about another four weeks to be completely removed, there are a few rooms that will remain out of service for a while. 101 will be unusable for the longest period, probably until the first of April at the earliest. Every effort is being made to shorten offline time as much as possible without compromising anyone's safety, so we're going to be operating with less than a full complement of rooms for a while.

In that regard, if you are scheduled to go to Lindo Mar in the next couple of months and you can change your plans, please contact the Trading Places Reservation Department – 1-800-365-6494, ext. 100 or ownerservices@tradingplaces.com – and let them know. They can reschedule your time at Lindo Mar or deposit it and make an exchange for you.

At this point, reportable events will be happening less often so we will not be updating this site every week after this report. We will post an update as events occur that warrant immediate publication, but it will be more like the old broadcasting statement, “News at 5:00 and 11:00; bulletins as they break.”

We are grateful for your compliments and critiques of our efforts on this report. They have all – both positive and negative – been helpful. We're just glad we have so soon reached a point where weekly reports are not necessary.

A Lindo Mar newsletter will be published in February which will reiterate a great deal of what we have written here over the past couple of months, and will add more.

Hasta pronto a Lindo Mar. Have a great 2007, and Happy Vacationing!
